Killian’s Phantom is powerful, chilling and strong-willed but still manages to remain likeable and you find yourself rooting for his villainous role as opposed to the generic heroic figure of Raoul portrayed by Matt Blaker. She truly was a breath of fresh air and you truly empathized with her. Lucy St Louis portrayed Christine beautifully and had a softer tone than one I'd heard in previous phantom recordings. ![]() With a beautiful score really firing you up as an audience member and a stunning orchestra to go along with this there truly is so much to love. The two of them bring to life the beauty and beast-like tale with the accompaniment of a beautiful ensemble which really entices you into believing you are attending a real opera house. Louis plays the striking Christine Daaé alongside him to convey the heartbreaking story of a forbidden love. Set in 1881 Paris, France, this production stars Killian Donnelly as the ghost “Phantom” of the opera and Lucy St. We know the iconic songs, we are aware of the tragic love story, but seeing it brought to life on stage is something so magical it’s a sure win in my eyes as one of the best musicals of all time. Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Phantom of the Opera has been a staple within the theatre world, west end and beyond for over 30 years now and I can completely see why it is a staple for those visiting London to see what people are calling “The best west end show of all time”. ![]()
